Whilst I finish typing up the loose ends on "Lolita in Summer Part II" here's an outfit post for you to chow down on with one of my favourite ever prints!  (Includes full outfit breakdown & makeup)

When it came out in 2007, this dress retailed for around 38,500 yen, or £290. Thankfully, by the time I had fallen in love with this print it was already several years later when I was able to buy it second hand. I actually own this print in black for the JSK VII, and lavender for the skirt. When I say I fell in love with this print, I really did! This is the print swatch-- see it's epic beauty! :

Somebody once asked if I would sell this. I clutched the dress to my chest and promised it I would never do such a thing. I'd rescued it from an abusive owner and would never send it away again!

Anyway- onwards to the outfit!

I didn't feel the need to highly accessorise this, but I could easily have donned some lacy wrist cuffs, a ruffly choker, clipped loads of bows and gems into my hair, and dripped in pearls, but I don't go over the top too much if I can help it. I got the wig in the post this morning and it was, basically, flat on top and lacking in the poof department, which made it very similar to a wig I already owned. So I teased it a bit and wore it out this morning. I didn't get chance to give it the full "hime" attention, so I'll probably work on that tonight and post up the progress on here sometime.

Photos taken 6/5/11

Onepiece Dress: Paris no Mado / Paris Windows print OP in Pink by Baby, the Stars Shine Bright.
Petti: Classical Puppets A-line Petti,        Socks: Secret Shop,          Shoes: An*tai*na

Headbow: £2.00 from a local shop called Tessie's Boutique
Jewellery: Random faux-pearl elastic bracelets bought from Tessie's Boutique, Faux-pearl necklace bought for 50p from a charity store, Magpie Lucidus Standard Bow Ring that I make as part of the ML range

The eyeshadow might seem bold, but that's only because the background of the template is white. It's actually rather subtle, just to add some depth to the sockets and smoothness overall. This makeup, along with some lovely false eyelashes, looks like this on me (sorry if it's appearing a bit warped- it was a really large photo file and I had to smush it down a lot!):

I hope that gives you some inspiration! I would consider this classic lolita ensemble to be erring on the sweet side, mainly because of the hime hair. You know-- sometimes it's hard to classify your lolita style with just one word!

Oh! There's one more thing I would like to share with you today! You will all know that, aside from playing some kind of sport (rarely), I won't wear trainers. However, I found these Gordon Jack's which... argh I could not resist!

..... Merlin knows when I'm ever going to wear them, but they make me very happy! \ ^o^ /
... is it just me or did that look like a diglett?

Those are actually my dream trainers! I've been eying them up on ebay for the past year now! My mum thinks they look funny though ;___;
May. 6th, 2011 07:24 pm (UTC)
Yay for Gordon Jack love!
Hehe, they wouldn't be so awesom if they didn't look a little bit funny :3 True they're kind of chunky, but I've seen similar designs by Sketchers and such so they're not THAT unusual. They're very comfortable and well made, I would highly recommend a pair if you can get them at a reasonable price!
May. 6th, 2011 09:22 pm (UTC)
Indeed!! And yeah, I look funny so they'll be a perfect fit! I have flat feet and I've heard that platforms are good for flat feet so there's another reason why I should have them XD
May. 6th, 2011 09:24 pm (UTC)
I'm not sure if they're 'good' for flat feet, but wearing things like flip flops is apparently very bad for flat feet because there is no support for the arches, so you alter your entire posture to compensate. By that logic, I can imagine that platform trainers would be great, because you get the support of the shape of a trainer but they're epic as well ;)
May. 6th, 2011 09:41 pm (UTC)
Weeeelll, not good, but better than completely flat shoes, again, purely because of support. And yeah, I can't wear flip flops for long without my back or legs aching. I just have rubbish feet to be honest XD I doubt my mum (who is a physiotherapist) will like the tea party shoes I bought XD I hope they're deep enough to put insoles in ><
Overall, I've always liked platforms, so I want them XD And those ones I think would look quite cute in a fairy kei coord!
May. 6th, 2011 09:49 pm (UTC)
Yeah they're really fairy kei- ish. It's just a shame I've sold off pretty much all my fairy kei type things now. I seriously have no idea when I'm going to wear these or to what avail! I might try to get hold of a brand 'tracksuit' or something and just use it for... I don't know... maybe I can start a dog walking service or something XD

I'm pretty sure that tea parties are about average in depth.

Oh gosh, your mum would hate to meet me- I've got a bad EVERYTHING ^^'
May. 6th, 2011 10:32 pm (UTC)
I think she'd love you! But she'd be diognosing you like she does with me hahaa! I got my tea parties in a size bigger (well, by accident) but hopefully my insoles might fit in now! I think that they'd be fine for whenever you're not in lolita! Or in a really casual coord, I could imagine them being worn with one of AP's salopettes :)
May. 6th, 2011 10:42 pm (UTC)
Oh gosh, I saw such a cute striped salopette recently in pink/purple... but I'm probably never going to get my hands on one of those haha. If I did I might actually renounce my classic lolita forever and go totally caju ^^' However I actually don't go out 'not in lolita' now unless I'm forced to for whatever reason. I've sold all my clothes in the past month or two since I barely wore any of it. I just didn't feel comfortable in it all.

You should be fine with the insoles then. Here's hoping! When do they arrive?
May. 6th, 2011 11:02 pm (UTC)
They are adorable♥ I wish I had a pattern so I could make one, might get one of those funny looking dungaree skirts from primark and take it apart, they're a similar shape ^^
And soon! I did a GO with some freinds (I typo'd fiends, it's not inaccurate XD) and we're going to have a meet when the stuff's here :D
May. 6th, 2011 11:28 pm (UTC)
Epic comment convo is epic. I really can't imagine being caju, but I do actually have a shorts/dungarees thingy lying about here somewhere. I could just alter that template I guess. But still, no matter how I look at salopettes and no matter how cute they are, they still look like what I wore when I was 5 :3

Oh GO's scare me so much haha, I've never taken part in one, but I guess it's better if you're with friends so you know you're all trustworthy. You can meet in caju and then all change into your new stuff XD
May. 7th, 2011 08:13 am (UTC)
Hahaa, I know! It's getting a bit out of hand isn't it? I know what you mean with the 5 year old bit, but I want one all the same XD
I don't think I'd do a GO with people I don't know, it'd be so easy for them to just take your money and go, but it's with people I know so I feel safer :)
May. 7th, 2011 10:23 am (UTC)
Yeah I think I'll leave it here, feel free to PM me if you want to chat though <3 (I'm such a chatterbox!) ... I think I might have to try making a salopette. Maybe in pale pink and blue tartan check or something. I'll let you know if I find a pattern & fabric!

Oh and on GO's, the last GO I knew someone took part in they never got their stuff or a refund and had to get threaten civil court before she'd cough up the money she owed. So that put me right of T__T
May. 7th, 2011 02:03 am (UTC)
Aww that dress is so pretty! Hime hair <3
May. 7th, 2011 10:28 am (UTC)
I'm so glad other people like it and it's not just me being all 'squee' over a dress everyone else might think is ugly as sin XD I know right, hime hair is delicious! My natural hair is really poofy but quite unruly, so I'm going to try wrestling with it today when it's dry to see if I can get nice hime hair with my natural hair. It's doubtful, but here's hoping!
May. 7th, 2011 08:54 pm (UTC)
Aww xD

I've never attempted hime hair so tell me how it turns out. I tease my hair for volume when I curly it and stuff but I've never had the hime poof. xD When I see it in ageha or any other gal mag I'm like wow I need a wig or to get brave.
Jul. 15th, 2011 10:39 am (UTC)
Yeah I'll be honest, I just cut a lot of my hair off because it was too heavy/thick and unmanageable haha! Wigs = much easier. Backcombing is so much hell!
Jul. 18th, 2011 06:59 am (UTC)
xD! I've never worn a wig, but I'm always curious to buy one since they have so many cute styles now. Yeah back combing can be a pain ;( whenever I have to tease my hair it's annoying at times lol
Oct. 17th, 2011 10:10 am (UTC)
I don't mind teasing my hair, it's just UNteasing that I find a pain :( Wiggies just make everything a lot easier I think because my hair is.... urgh!
I think if you get a wig for about £30 it's worth it. About that price by Minty Mix or some other renowned wig brand would be ideal for lolita!

Woaw ! I really think you are made for sweet lolita ! Pastel colours fits you so good! I like this print too ♥

Jul. 15th, 2011 10:40 am (UTC)
Thank you my dear Mary! I like pastel colours, but mint and yellow are terrible for me. I think I remember you said you like dark or bold colours like red and black?
Jul. 19th, 2011 09:51 am (UTC)
you're welcome ♥.
Actually, I love black, red, pruple and white xD a lot of colours =).
How are you my dear ?
Oct. 17th, 2011 10:08 am (UTC)
Oh I can't wear purple very well, my skin looks horrible ><
But I'm obsessed with sapphire blue at the moment! I love dark blbue <3
I've been so busy lately but I hope that I can have a rest since I'm going on holiday this week haha!
Jul. 13th, 2011 12:43 pm (UTC)
Excuse me
I hope I'm not being rude but I was wondering where did you purchase your Gordon Jacks?
I have been on the hunt for a pair of pink or like pink platform Buffalos, Roxys, Swear, or Gordon Jacks for years for a dream cosplay of mine which requires a shoe in the likeness and pink in color. It seems that I will not get to do that cosplay anytime soon, lol. I'm a perfectionist so when I set my mind on having an item for a cosplay I never start on it until I get the important part done first.

Well that is my only question. Thank you!

Re: Shoes
Hi Kristen! No of course you're not being rude :3 I bought them at a local boutique and they don't have a chainstore. Sorry I can't help you ;__; Which cosplay is it that you're doing? If mine are the right size and colour I don't mind selling you mine. I just haven't worn them as much as I thought I would. I'll keep an eye out for you, though. Is there a contact email I can reach you at if I come across some more?

(btw I used to wear Swears, Roxys, AND Buffalo! I had a cyber kid phase! Chunky platform trainers are lovely but they're just not my style anymore)
Oct. 17th, 2011 03:17 am (UTC)
You look beautiful! I was looking for this worn and you definatly confirmed that this would let me finally do my dream of Hime Lolita!

Btw, what did the previous owner do to the poor dress?!
Oct. 17th, 2011 10:06 am (UTC)
Aw thank you my dear! I'm glad it helped you :) This is in fact my favourite lolita print ever (I own it in 3 colours O_o) but the OP is very special I think. I love the tiered sleeves. Hime Lolita is actually one of my most worn styles so I can totally vouch for this dress! I hope you can find it!

Oh gosh, this poor dress came to me in such a state! It had makeup stains on the lae at the collar, yellow staining all around the inside of the collar and back, it smelt of smoke and sweat, there are horrible yellow patches under the arms (I managed to get a bit of it out but not all of it), and basically overall it had not been looked after at all. It made me really sad that someone wouldn't clean their clothes at all. The colour was really dull and horrible too. However now I think the dress is happy :D
Oct. 17th, 2011 01:31 pm (UTC)
The poor dear!!! ;-; Can we make that a minor crime please?

I do have a fast question though; how did you do your hair? It's so perfect~
Oct. 17th, 2011 03:33 pm (UTC)
I know! Minor crime it is! I think it's so horrible that someone would have such a precious dress and mistreat it. I think most lolita girls have to work hard to save for their clothes so they treasure it more.

Haha, in these pictures I'm wearing a wig! But I suppose I styled it myself haha! When I do my natural hair hime style I put it in the biggest rollers I have after putting in some volume mousse to get the hime poof at the top. Then the rest I use hot curlers on a loose/wide setting, or straighteners to make the curls :)
Oct. 17th, 2011 08:52 pm (UTC)
That's why it's so perfect! XD My hair hates holding curls. ;-; Guess I should just buy a wig already. But thatnk you very much for the tips!
Oct. 17th, 2011 09:00 pm (UTC)
I style wigs frequently so I'm used to wrestling with hair problems. But my own hair is so unruly O_o
What kind of hair do you have? I was considering putting up a tutorial for hime style hair ^^'
Oct. 17th, 2011 10:55 pm (UTC)
My hair's long and thick' the curls fall out b/c of my hair's weight! ;-;
Oct. 26th, 2011 01:35 pm (UTC)
Oh wow yeah that really sucks. But I always think where there's will there's a way! I have super thick hair (my dads is thick, curly, anglo-saxon hair and my mum's is thick, tough, hardworking Chinese hair so it doesn't really want to behave very often). Have you tried rolling hot curling irons up only half of the way at a time? The curls should stay in if you put some volume or curl mousse through each section just before you put the heat on it. Then when it's rolled, slip the irons out but keep it rolled up using a kirby grip. That tends to work for really long or thick hair.
When mine was down to the small of my back it's what I would do, but it did take a looooong time!
Oct. 27th, 2011 02:10 am (UTC)
The only think that really made curls that stay was using a straightener. But they don't make them wide enough to make pretty, large curls
Oct. 27th, 2011 11:55 am (UTC)
They don't? I have 4 pairs of straightening irons and one of them has curved plates for the task, which is nice, but it is a bit thin. The others though are really fat since I had such long hair!

Oh well :( Even if you have long hair there's still the wig option if you ever get tired of trying to make it behave! Especially for something like hime <3
