Artwork Post: "Hermes"

Dated 01/03/2011
Prints of this artwork may be made available by request.

I like mythology. Most stuff gets me inspired, but half the time I just want to turn all these mythological figures into cute anime girls and guys! I know Hermes is male but girls look cute with wings! So Hermes became this! I wanted to make her look both mischievous and gentle and loving since Hermes was one of the parents of Eros, the god of love! I'm glad I managed to get in the traditional caduceus staff.
I wanted to practice artwork in different sizes, and this is actually only the same size as a trading card! (It's 2 1/2 " x 3 1/2 ")

This was drawn on my favourite weight of paper (135gsm) and coloured with watercolour, inked with staedtler graphic drawing pens.

Hiya! (returned)
Hey there! You commented on my blog so I figured I'd return the favour and give yours a look - excuse the E-stalking XD.

Seems like you've done a lot in a short time on here anyhow, I knew your cosplay was good from the expo but apparently your artwork is awesome too! I grew up reading Greek mythology (and watching Ulysses 31) so just about anything relating to it gets my vote ;)

Re: Hiya! (returned)
Aw thank you! It's appreciated (a lot of people that read my journal don't have LJ)!

Thank you very much, I still have to post up the cosplay reports from the past week but I have just come back from London so have a lot to catch up on before I even think about journal entries!

I actually really like how you did the clouds! I can't draw clouds.. or really badly! XD

I hope they match! I am going to find out now because it's super sunny here and I want to get rid of my white legs XD

Thank you, though they were a bit or an afterthought. The only backgrounds I tend to put thought into are things with citadels and buildings in the background. Otherwise, it tends to be a bit of a blur. I don't like to detract from the figures I draw. I guess when you only have a couple inches worth of space in which to draw, the background is the last thing on your mind :)

I'm not sure what you mean about matching, sorry!

Haha, the weather has been wonderful these past couple of days!
