Artwork Post: "Gore"

Dated 07/07/2010
Prints of this artwork are available upon request (be aware the grey stuffing that I added post-scan will not be on any prints, though!)

I wanted to draw a slightly "gore-lolita" themed image, but I wanted to experiement with an a-typical colour scheme. Even in black and white, I wanted to mix soft themes with spiky themes, so I added thorns and a spiky leather collar for the stuffed bear. In retrospect, I should have coloured the bear purple but this was a pretty much rushed piece. It took me about 1 and a half hours in total from start to finish. The grey stuffing was added later when I was colour correcting it. It seemed to add something to the image for some reason.

I didn't give this a background since it was really just me letting off some creative steam!

This was drawn on my favourite weight of paper (135gsm) and coloured with watercolour markers, inked with staedtler graphic drawing pens.

Cute or unsettling?...
I'll just play it safe and say both :) Regardless fine work, particularly for an hour and half! Being the slowpoke I am I'm liable to spend as long on a pencilled figure sometimes! O

Re: Cute or unsettling?...
Thank you! I like to get things done in one sitting sometimes when it's just an experiment or whatever- I tend to get picky only when it's something that's really well thought out and then I'll spread it out over a couple days so that I don't get sick of looking at it! It's good to take your time too if you have the time!
